Mark Moore talks about the Music Machine. Firstly the trash disco movie The Music Machine, out now on BluRay as part of Severin’s Discoploitation series. On the extras: ‘Disco Maniacs’ – Alan Jones and Moore talk about their love of disco, their first discovery of its delights, the tunes, the clubs and their lives in Disco ecstasy. The Music Machine film came out in 1979 and it’s the UK’s low budget answer to Saturday Night Fever. It’s set in the iconic Music Machine venue in Mornington Crescent / Camden Town, London.
Mark Moore also talks about his memories of The Music Machine as music venue. Seeing bands like Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Clash and The Slits. This venue transformed into the Camden Palace which hosted Steve Strange and Rusty Egan’s post new-romantic night. There (in 1982 to 1984) you could hear new electronic music and synth pop that started taking over the UK from 1979 onwards and went on to conquer the music charts around the world. A tale of punks, skinheads, bigotry, cancel culture and waiting for the trains to start running again.
